West Virginia

The 35th state in the USA, admitted on June 20, 1863.

West Virginia, the only state to acquire sovereignty by Presidential proclamation has something to offer everyone. The mountains and tall trees are a nature lovers or spelunkers dream. Breath taking views, aside, West Virginia has a rich and vibrant cultural. Coal mining and tree logging account for the majority of West Virginia economy, but it is also home to many historic sites and events, including the Coal House, the only house built entirely of coal, and is home to Mrs. Minnie Buckingham Harper, the first African-American women to be appointed to a legislative body.
