The first European settlers in Pennsylvania were Dutch, English and Swiss colonists. Pennsylvania was the second colony to ratify the U.S Constitution. The state has 121 state parks and several world famous museums. It also contains nine percent of all wooded area in the U.S. Philadelphia is Pennsylvania's largest city and the sixth most populous city in the U.S. It was the site of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and was home to notable historic figures such as Benjamin Franklin. In 1874 the country's first zoo opened in Philadelphia. Pennsylvania's second largest city, Pittsburgh, hosted the G-20 Summit meeting in September 2009.
