The 50th state in the USA, admitted on August 21, 1959.
Hawaii is the only state made up entirely of an archipelago of islands. Due to its geographic isolation, it has a multitude of flora and fauna indigenous to the islands. The active volcanoes, tropical climate, and 750 miles of coastline make it a popular tourist attraction. Hawaii has two official languages, English and Hawaiian. The state also has the highest percentage of Asian Americans and Multiracial Americans in the country. Hawaii was an independent territory until 1959 when it became the newest of the 50 states.
